From a routine check-up to a root canal or a new set of teeth. Here’s what each treatment is for and what it involves, in plain words.
CATEGORY 01
Check-ups, cleaning, fluoride and sealants. The small, regular things that stop problems before they need a drill.
Dr. Samreen checks your teeth, gums and the rest of your mouth, then tells you plainly what needs doing now and what we can simply keep an eye on.
We remove hardened tartar and surface stains from your teeth, and check your gums to see whether a routine clean is enough or they need more care.
A fluoride treatment applied in the clinic to teeth at higher risk of decay, along with simple changes at home that help keep them protected.
A thin protective coating over the deep grooves of back teeth, where food and plaque get stuck and a toothbrush struggles to reach.
A small appliance that can hold a gap open when a baby tooth is lost early, so there’s room for the adult tooth when it comes through.
We seal a sensitive exposed patch of tooth, once we’re sure the pain isn’t coming from decay, a crack or the nerve inside the tooth.
CATEGORY 02
Fillings, crowns, bridges and root canals, for teeth that are decayed, broken or infected but still worth saving.
A crown covers and protects a tooth that is too damaged for a filling alone, often after a large break or root canal treatment.
A fixed replacement for one or more missing teeth, held by supports nearby, so we check those supports and your gums carefully before anything else.
We repair a cavity or a broken old filling, choosing a material that suits the tooth, the size of the hole and how hard that tooth has to work.
A tooth-coloured filling that we bond to your tooth, then shape and polish to repair a cavity or a chipped edge so it blends in.
A tooth-coloured filling material with its own uses, such as certain cavities, exposed roots and as one step in a longer treatment plan.
When decay or injury reaches the nerve inside a tooth, root canal treatment cleans it out and seals it so you can keep the tooth.
Root canal treatment followed by a glass ionomer filling to seal the top of the tooth, either as the final repair or while it waits for a crown.
Root canal treatment finished with a tooth-coloured composite filling, for teeth that still have enough strong structure left to hold one.
For a root-treated tooth that’s badly broken down. A post and core rebuild it from inside, and a PFM or zirconia crown covers and protects it.
A short-term zinc oxide filling that seals your tooth between appointments while it’s being treated or waiting for its final filling or crown.
When decay gets very close to the nerve, pulp capping with MTA can sometimes protect it and keep the tooth alive, so you may not need a root canal.
If a tooth that’s already had a root canal is hurting or infected again, retreatment reopens it, cleans the canals again and reseals them.
Surgery on the tip of a tooth’s root, for when infection around the root end hasn’t cleared after a root canal and the tooth is worth saving.
CATEGORY 03
A fixed replacement for a missing tooth. We plan the implant and the crown on top of it together, from the start.
Replace a missing tooth with an implant and crown. We check your bone, gums and bite first, and plan the healing time and the final tooth from the start.
The visible tooth that sits on your implant, shaped to fit the gap, your gumline and your bite. We can also assess implants placed elsewhere.
CATEGORY 04
Full and partial dentures that you can take out. The right type depends on how many of your own teeth are left.
Full and partial dentures made to fit your gums, remaining teeth and bite. Dr. Samreen explains the material options before anything is made.
A full upper or lower denture with a heat-cured acrylic base, made to the shape of your mouth and your bite. A few adjustment visits are normal.
A removable denture with a flexible base that fills some gaps between your natural teeth, when your remaining teeth and bite suit that design.
A removable partial denture built on a metal framework, sometimes with attachments, and planned around the teeth that will hold it in place.
CATEGORY 05
Whitening, veneers and stain removal, keeping as much of your natural tooth as we can.
Want lighter teeth? We first find out why they look dark and check your teeth and gums, then plan whitening that suits your mouth.
Veneers can change the colour or shape of front teeth. We compare materials, how much tooth is trimmed and the upkeep before you decide.
Thin ceramic shells made in a lab and bonded to the front of a tooth to change its colour, shape or surface, planned after a full check.
Tooth-coloured material shaped directly onto your tooth to change its look. Usually quicker than porcelain, but it chips and stains differently.
A lab-made ceramic veneer. We plan the design and bonding around your tooth, and you’ll know how much tooth is involved before we start.
A gentle polish that removes a very thin outer layer of enamel to soften certain surface marks, including some fluorosis spots.
CATEGORY 06
Taking out teeth, including wisdom teeth, draining an abscess, and treating cuts or injuries inside the mouth.
Simple and surgical tooth removal, including impacted teeth. We examine and X-ray the tooth first, and only take it out if keeping it isn’t sensible.
Cut lip, bitten tongue or injured gum? We check how deep it goes and look at the nearby teeth, then treat it here or send you on if it needs hospital care.
When a dental abscess needs draining, we release the pus to ease the pressure and pain, then find and treat whatever caused the infection.
A gum procedure that exposes more of a broken or decayed tooth so a crown or filling can hold properly. Occasionally used to even out a gumline.
CATEGORY 07
Fixed braces and clear aligners for crooked teeth, gaps and bite problems. First we check which one suits your teeth.
Fixed braces for crooked, crowded or gappy teeth and bite problems, planned around your whole bite rather than just the front teeth.
Clear, removable trays that move teeth in planned steps. We check they suit your case and explain wear time, check-ups and retainers first.
