Clinical review: Dr. Samreen Ejaz, BDS, RDS ·
It’s about your bite, not just the front teeth
A slightly crooked front tooth and a real bite problem don’t need the same plan. We offer fixed braces for mild crooked teeth, crowding, gaps and bite correction. The check-up tells us which tooth movements you need. If your case needs more than we can safely do here, we’ll tell you honestly and suggest seeing an orthodontist.
Records before brackets
Dr. Samreen checks your teeth, gums and bite. We may need photos, impressions and X-rays to plan properly. Any decay or gum problems get treated first. Dr. Samreen is a dental surgeon with additional training, not an orthodontist, and you’re always welcome to ask about her training. If you take regular medicines, tell us, and don’t stop them on your own.
How braces work
Brackets and wires move your teeth step by step, and you’ll come in regularly so we can adjust them. We’ll explain the plan, any extra steps, and what could make it take longer. Even mild crowding can take longer than expected, so we won’t promise a short time. Expect some soreness after adjustments, and you’ll need to keep your appointments and clean well.
Cleaning and broken brackets
Food and plaque get trapped around braces easily. We’ll show you how to clean around the brackets and between teeth, and which foods to avoid, like hard nuts, chewing gum and sticky sweets. If a wire pokes or a bracket comes off, call us. Don’t bend or cut anything yourself. Keep up your normal check-ups and cleanings too.
Braces, aligners or nothing
Clear aligners can work for some cases, but only if the movements suit them and you wear them properly. Veneers or crowns can change how teeth look but don’t move them or fix your bite. We’ll compare the options against your actual problem and what you can manage day to day.
Retainers keep the result
When the braces come off, you’ll need retainers to hold your teeth in place. Ask which type you’ll get, how often we check them and what a replacement costs. Teeth can shift over the years, so wearing your retainer as told matters. Bring it to your check-ups so we can see it still fits.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
Questions about braces treatment
Can I get braces only on my front teeth?
Sometimes, in simple cases. We still need to check your bite, because moving front teeth affects how the others meet.
Will I need teeth taken out?
Not always. It depends on how much space you need. If we suggest removing teeth, we’ll explain why.
Do braces hurt?
Your teeth will feel sore for a few days after fitting and after each adjustment. Soft food and normal painkillers usually help.
Is Dr. Samreen an orthodontist?
No. She’s a dental surgeon with additional training who provides braces. Complex cases are referred to an orthodontist.
This is general information. What’s right for your tooth depends on what Dr. Samreen finds when she examines it.
