Emergency Dentist in Bahawalpur: What to Do Before You Reach Us
Published · Dental Stories, Bahawalpur
Dental problems rarely pick a convenient time. Dental Stories accepts emergency visits every day from 10 am to 10 pm, so you don’t have to wait for a routine slot. Knowing what to do in the first hour can save a tooth, or at least make the trip easier. This is general first-aid guidance, not a substitute for being examined.
Go to hospital emergency first if
- Swelling is spreading to the eye, neck or under the tongue.
- You have difficulty breathing or swallowing.
- There is heavy bleeding that won’t stop with pressure.
- There has been a head injury or loss of consciousness.
These can be serious and need hospital care straight away.
Severe toothache
Rinse with warm salt water and gently floss to remove trapped food. An over-the-counter painkiller you normally tolerate can help; follow the packet. Don’t put aspirin or clove on the gum, as it can burn the tissue. Book to be seen, because pain that comes and goes often means the problem is progressing.
A knocked-out adult tooth
Time matters. Pick it up by the crown (the white part), not the root. If dirty, rinse briefly in milk or saline, don’t scrub. If you can, push it gently back into the socket and bite on a cloth. If not, keep it in milk or inside your cheek and get to a dentist as fast as possible. Don’t try to replant a baby tooth.
A broken or chipped tooth
Keep any pieces, rinse your mouth and use a cold compress on the cheek for swelling. If there’s a sharp edge, cover it with sugar-free gum or dental wax. A pink or red spot in the broken area can mean the nerve is exposed and needs prompt care.
Swelling of the gum or face
Swelling usually means infection. Don’t apply heat to the outside of the face. A dentist needs to find the source, and you may need antibiotics alongside treatment, which only a clinician should prescribe.
Lost filling or crown
Keep the crown. Avoid chewing on that side and keep the area clean. Don’t glue a crown back with household glue.
